Occupy Wall Street – What Happens to the Money that’s being Donated?

.
The Occupy Wall Street (OWS) “protest” is entering its 4th week, and apparently the occupiers are beginning to really, really stink.

.
Aside from the valuable lesson that is hopefully starting to sink in about the truth of the “welfare state” to the post-collegiate idealists who are there (they aren’t really thrilled with the increasing numbers of do-nothings who are showing up with their hands out and no willingness to do any work), I have a feeling they are about to get broad-sided by the reality of the scope of human greed.

People Who Live in Intellectual Pup Tents REALLY Shouldn’t Taunt the Bears….

Last week, I published a relatively light-hearted little blog post that I sent out to family and friends.  It was inspired by a comment made by a friend of a friend of a friend on a Facebook post.  I was simply poking fun at the commenter (whose identity I will never know) and those well-meaning souls who want to do “SOMETHING” to help a cause, even though they don’t know what “the cause” really is.

And I included some snarky remarks about a little protest that had inspired the comment.  At the time, it really was a nothing little protest; had it not been for the advent of the social media, the protest would have died out by last weekend and that would have been the end of things.

Let’s get Ready to RUMMMBLE!!!!!!!

What were event planners thinking? This could be the Great Chicago Fire all over again:

When Chicago is lying in a pile of ashes next May, everyone remember that Rahm ASKED Obama to steer these events Chicago’s way after they lost their Olympics bid:

June 23, 2011 (CHICAGO) (WLS) — World leaders are gathering in Chicago next year for two international summits. Both the NATO and the G8 summits will be held in May.**

Blog Commenting Etiquette (a.k.a. Tossing out the drunks)

Well, it finally happened – I had to set a commenter straight.  I’m not happy about having to do it, but apparently some people’s lessons in manners didn’t take the first time.  So here is a copy of the e-mail that one lucky reader got in their e-mail inbox this evening:

I have tolerated your remarks up until now on my blog.  Despite the fact that you never seem to have learned that you do not go into someone else’s house and pee on their carpet, I was willing to let your lack of manners slide.

I have had enough.

PETA – Come for their Outrage, Stay for their Porn….

So the New York Times puts up a really cute picture of a sassy little bird:

You know you want it.....

It’s got that certain je ne sais quoi , no?  I don’t know about you, but when I saw it, I laughed and smiled, because That.Bird.Has.Attitude.  It’s sweet.  It’s funny.

It’s playful and – dare I say it? – sexy.

When (Future) Lawyers Lie

An open letter to Law Schools across the nation:

I don’t know if you are aware of an incident which took place recently involving a student currently attending a School of Law, but I thought I should bring it to your attention.  Failing to address this issue could have potentially long-term implications in the public’s opinion regarding the quality of not only the education that your schools provide, but also the quality of the attorneys that you graduate and subsequently send out into the world to practice law. THIS is why you “Don’t Mess With Texas”…..: Happy 65th Anniversary to the USAF’s 149th Fighter Wing!

Got this in an e-mail from Paul earlier today:

This F-16 was painted to celebrate the 149th FW 65th anniversary. The United States Air Force’s 149th Fighter Wing is a Texas Air National Guard unit located at Kelly Field Annex, Lackland AFB, in San Antonio, Texas.

Daddy’s airplane looking pretty.

The 149th Fighter Wing is an F-16 flying training unit that includes a support group with a worldwide mobility commitment. The cornerstone of the 149th’s flying mission is the 182d Fighter Squadron, whose role is to take pilots – either experienced aircrew or recent graduates from USAF undergraduate pilot training – and qualify them to fly and employ the F-16. Start “The Revolution” Without Me

As many of you probably know, I spend my days cruising the Internet, talking to friends and keeping up with what’s going on in the world.  And sometimes I run across something that just BEGS to be ridiculed (and I’m just the snarky gal to do it, too).

For those of you who may not be aware of it yet (you know, those of you with REAL jobs and lives) there is currently a protest happening called “Occupy Wall Street“.  It’s been going on for over a week now (yes, really!) – a lovely little temper tantrum being thrown by a bunch of well-fed white kids who fancy themselves as some sort of modern-day, new age revolutionaries.  They study the Communist Manifesto and hate capitalism in all of its forms because it’s … well – evil, ya know? “Just wanted to let you know that we’re all OK”

Paul walked into the house last night, and said, “Leon called, and he said that everyone’s OK”.

That’s how we first found out that there had been a horrific accident at the Reno Air Races yesterday.  A vintage airplane had crashed into the box seat section of the stands; our friends were close enough to “see more than we would have liked” to the accident site.
