Solitaire-y Confinement

Bonus points if you get this reference….

.
Well, it’s been a week since the election.
I’m still trying to get used to my disappointment, thus the lack of posts.
(It’s almost like I’m going through the grieving process)

I’m laying off of most of my political blog haunts for a while.

In the meantime, I’m playing Solitaire.
And since it’s 2012, I’m playing it on the computer.
A deck of cards is soooo 20th Century 😛

.
.
All is not lost, however – I’ve added a new Category/Tag to my blog:

Obama Sucks

I’m sure you’ll be seeing it a lot over the next 4 years.
The gloves are coming off….

On Jonathan’s Birthday – “Autumn Leaves”

.
Today would have been my friend Becky’s oldest son’s 30th birthday.  Jonathan left us much too soon (a car accident in 2001), but he left lots of great memories behind for those who loved him best.

One of the things that his family ran across while looking for things to include in his memorial service was a poem that he had written in one of his classes about a leaf falling to the ground.  It gave them great comfort, and ever since then whenever Autumn rolls around I like to think that Jonathan is surrounding everyone who knew and loved him with his presence.

Every time I hear this song, I think about Jonathan and his family:

WHOOP!!!!!!

Varsity’s Horns Are Sawed Off…..

Congratulations to our beloved Texas Aggies – this afternoon they hung on to beat #1-ranked Alabama, 29-24!  It was a great game (especially since I was convinced that Bama was gonna eat us for lunch), and we’ve been thrilled with the Ags’ inaugural season in the SEC.

WOW!

One of my blogging buddies posted this – its a little naughty (not a lot), but a whole lot of fun:

.
I bet they’re having a grand time in College Station tonight!

“How Long Does It Take You People To Shop?!?!?!?”

.
They’ve started already – the ads for Christmas come earlier and earlier each year. I’m old enough to remember when we actually got through Thanksgiving before we started seeing and/or hearing Christmas stuff. I may not always agree with Lewis Black’s political views, but when I heard this bit about Christmas years and years ago, I was laughing so hard that I was in tears.

STRONG warning for language – even stronger warning to go pee before you watch this:

“Simple Gifts”

.
There are plenty of videos with this beautiful song out there, but I absolutely LOVE the photography used in this one – it’s full of the people and things that make America such a great country:

Home Stretch

DNC Headquarters – November 7th, 2012

“..and sometimes you account for your money and talent so skillfully, you end up with a ton of it at the end and can bomb Dresden to a smoking pile of cinders:

There are only days left to campaign and following the Hurricane Sandy pause Team Romney is gearing up for a final push to close out the cycle that would dwarf any prior campaign’s effort.  According to CNN, Team Romney will hit 11-states with all-stars from the GOP’s deep bench, Colorado, Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin..”

I’ll take Mittens and the Math Witch for the win, Alex…..

The Death Star has cleared the planet. The Death Star has cleared the planet.”

Closing The Deal

.
Ladies and gentlemen, the choice is clear:

.
It is my hope that come Tuesday evening, Mitt Romney will be the next President-elect of the United States.

Please be sure and vote on Tuesday!

“When October Goes”

.
Just ask my family – I’m one of the original “Fanilows“, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.  I’ve been hooked ever since I heard “Mandy” on the radio in 1974 (what can I say?  Other girls my age went gaga for Donny Osmond – Barry’s always been “my” guy).

When October Goes” is one of my absolute favorite Barry Manilow songs.  I first heard  this song on his amazing “2:00 A.M. Paradise Cafe” album*** – I managed to wear out the cassette tape from rewinding it to hear this song over and over and over…..
.

.
Have a great day –
.
***”When October Goes” is available in CD and MP3 formats – there are lots of good songs on the album (including duets with Sarah Vaughan and the “Velvet Fog”, Mel Torme).
