Today is my Dad’s 81st birthday. I can’t tell you how very glad I am that he is still here to celebrate with us – so many of our friends don’t have their parents around anymore, and Paul and I are fortunate enough to have both our Moms and our Dads around to share good times with.
You’d think after 32 years of marriage, you’d be able to trust your husband when he says he’s gotta go help his Dad “feed the cows”. I mean, we behaved ourselves while he was away; I remained true to my wedding vows.
But some disturbing new photos have come to light which make it clear that I can no longer deny the truth – there is another woman trying to horn in on my husband, and apparently she is willing to do some pretty racy things to get what she wants (you may want to have your children leave the room):

Well, it’s another “Girls’ Weekend” at the Koch house – Paul’s dad had a heart catheterization done on Thursday; everything is fine, thank goodness! Since he is under doctor’s orders to restrict his activity for the next couple of days, Paul and his brother have gone to Ballinger to feed the cows and help out around the house while he recuperates.
While he’s gone, Rebecca, Sarah, and I have big plans.
Really, really BIG plans.
We’re gonna be couch potatoes all weekend….

Tonight, Sarah and I are going to see the Alfred Hitchcock classic “To Catch A Thief“.
I’ve gotta admit, this is one of my all-time favorite movies.
I mean, c’mon – Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, the French Riviera, costumes by Edith Head; what’s not to love? Throw in a little romantic innuendo, and let the fireworks begin…..(who knew that chicken could be so sexy?)

I can still remember it like it was yesterday – Roy Orbison and a new young talent singing a duet on “The Tonight Show” that absolutely blew the doors off the joint. Mr. Orbison is, sadly, no longer with us, but that “new young talent” – k.d.lang – is still amazing people with her powerful voice.
I don’t remember where I originally found this recipe, but this very quickly became one of our family’s favorites – it’s sinfully easy to make, and oh, so delicious:

My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years ago.. I went to sleep and woke up with someone else’s thighs. It was just that quick. The replacements had the texture of cooked oatmeal. Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine?

My dad sent me this over the weekend –
Due to the popularity of the “Survivor” TV show, Texas is planning to do one entitled: “Survivor – Texas-Style!”
The lucky contestants will all start in Dallas, drive to Waco, Austin, San Antonio, then over to Houston and down to Brownsville.
They will then proceed up to Del Rio, El Paso, Odessa, Midland, Lubbock, and Amarillo.
From there they will go on to Abilene and Fort Worth.
Finally. back to Dallas.

Sometimes I hear a song and I HAVE to find it….
Paul and Sarah were watching Kill Bill, Volume 2 last weekend, and this song played as the credits rolled. Thanks to the Internet, I was able to find a list of the songs on the movie soundtrack, and from there it was just a hop, skip, and a jump to Amazon and YouTube to figure out which song I was looking for.
