Mere hours after the Supreme Court handed down their verdict on the fate of Arizona’s SB1070, the country was treated to this:

The Obama administration said Monday it is suspending existing agreements with Arizona police over enforcement of federal immigration laws, and said it has issued a directive telling federal authorities to decline many of the calls reporting illegal immigrants that the Homeland Security Department may get from Arizona police.

Ummm…did I just step through the looking glass into some “Bizarro World” version of America? The president is telling the United States Department of Homeland Security – the agency tasked with keeping American citizens safe from the threat of harm – that they are not to share vitally important information with one of the 50 states of the union?

The president’s own administration is willing to put the “rights” of non-citizens who are in this country illegally over the rights of the people he was elected to serve?

Remind me again, Mr. President – who is protected by the Constitution of the United States: citizens who obey the law, or non-citizens who break the law?

Mr. Obama may envision himself a Constitutional Scholar, but apparently he has forgotten the document that made the Constitution possible in the first place:

Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King….is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States…..

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers….whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

Maybe you’ve missed all of the stories in the papers, Mr. Obama – it takes a long time to play a round of golf, after all – but there are American citizens living along the border of this country who live in fear of being harmed by criminals who are not citizens of this country.  Sadly, their fear is justified.

It is a President’s duty to see to the safety of his country’s citizens first and foremost.  Our laws were established to protect OUR citizens – if someone from another country wants the benefit of those protections, we have rules in place which will allow them to become a citizen of this great nation.

A President who is more concerned about the rights of non-citizens doesn’t deserve to remain in office.  You were hired to do a job; if you are unwilling to do that job, we will happily replace you with someone who takes the responsibilities of the office seriously.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us….They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.

Make no mistake, Mr. Obama – you have just declared war on your own people.
