My Advent Calendar of Music – Day #13: Odds and Ends

There is so much great music out there that I couldn’t include all of the songs that I love (or that people want to hear)! While putting this series together, I tried to group songs with a similar theme together, but every once in a while I would run across a song that didn’t fit neatly into a post (or if it did, there were already enough songs in that post). Where to put them?

Hence, today’s post. I ran across this while looking for clips to include in this series – I HAD to find a place for this one of Leon Redbone and Dr. John singing “Frosty the Snowman”; it is just so much fun:

.

I couldn’t really find anywhere else to put this one, but I had to include this song SOMEWHERE – The Beach Boys perform “Little Saint Nick”:

.
Here’s another one that I love to hear (I’m a sucker for tight harmonies, in case you haven’t figured it out by now), but all of the “dance cards” were full – SHeDAISY’s “Jingle Bells”:
.

.
There is a great scene in the movie “Elf” where Zooey Deschanel sings along with a radio “version” of Leon Redbone singing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”:
.

.
I found this rollicking version of “I Saw Three Ships” by Blackmore’s Night – every time I tried to put it in a post where I thought it would “fit”, the post always took a turn in another direction. I HAD to share this one with you, though! (I dare you to try and keep from tapping you feet in rhythm to this music):

I ran across this clip while researching some of the “lesser-known” Christmas songs, and couldn’t let it go by. It’s one of the very few “amateur” videos included this year, but it was too cute to pass up! I don’t know where this was taken or who the guy playing Santa Claus is, but this looks like it was a lot of fun. Here’s Santa getting his Motown groove on (and showing off some slick dance moves!) to “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas” – enjoy:

.
A friend reminded me about this one a couple of years ago – the hilarious Fay McKay and her drunk rendition of “The 12 Daze of Christmas”:
.

.
Well, that does it for another day of Christmas music – I hope you liked this eclectic collection!
