This is VERY good:
I’m sick and tired of well-meaning environmental activists telling us how to live our lives.
I LIKE having the freedom to drive wherever I want, WHENEVER I want.
I LIKE being able to run my air conditioner in the summer and my heater in the winter.
I LIKE being able to use a washer, dryer, and dishwasher whenever I need things cleaned.
I LIKE having the convenience of a home computer.
I LIKE having access to fresh food (brought to me by big trucks from across the country).
I LIKE having electrical lighting that allows me to stay up late at night if I want to.
I LIKE watching TV and going to the movies.
I LIKE knowing that there is electricity to power advanced medical equipment.
So to all of those environmentalists out there who want us to quit using all of these things, I say, “You first”.
As a matter of fact, there are plenty of places in countries around the world that are already practicing the kind of “environmentalism” that these folks want to embrace – remote villages in the Congo, Ethiopia, Iraq, Iran, China, Afghanistan, etc. Heck, the entire country of North Korea is a textbook example of an environmentalist’s idea of paradise.
If these folks truly want to live in a community which only practices the types of energy which they espouse, I am sure there are plenty of people in this country who would be more than happy to see to it that they are able to get to those places. Of course, they would have to get there without using any of those nasty carbon-spewing airplanes, ships, busses, or cars – we wouldn’t want to dirty up the environment, now, would we?
Maybe after a month of trying to live in the wilderness with no access to modern amenities the ones who survive will appreciate what a sweet deal they have in this country…..
