One of the great things about living in a larger town is that there is so much to do. One of our favorite movie theaters shows classic movies on the big screen. It’s a great way to see these films as original audiences saw them – how they really SHOULD be seen.
It’s also a great way to introduce these classics to a whole new generation of movie-goers.
Tonight, we’re taking Sarah and Rebecca to see “Casablanca“. I don’t know how much Rebecca will like it, but Sarah seems really interested in seeing it. We’re looking forward to dinner and a GREAT movie this evening – all these years later, “It’s still the same old story”:
.
Surprisingly, “Play it again, Sam” is NOT a line from this movie – everyone likes that quote better, though….
“Round up the usual suspects”
“We’ll always have Paris”
“Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine”
“I’m shocked – shocked! – to find that gambling is going on in here”
“I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship”
“Here’s looking at you, kid“
By tomorrow, Sarah will have seen all of those infamous quotes in context, and will probably be peppering her conversations with them not long afterward.
Who knows? She may even go out and buy a trenchcoat and a fedora.
You’ve been warned…..
.

Ooooh, I haven’t seen that one in ages… I need to watch it again!

It was WONDERFUL! And the theater was packed to capacity – lots of folks younger than Paul and I were there. Sarah loved it –
